Immerse yourself in Sicilian rural life with a visit to a historic farm where a passion for the land and genuine products have been passed down through generations. Wake up early and actively participate in the saffron harvest and the sheep milking process. Learn the art of traditional cheese production, from curd breaking to aging. Conclude the experience with a tasting of artisanal cheeses, saffron-based ice cream, and herbal teas, enriched with a fresh egg cooked with saffron. All in a natural setting where the needs of humans and animals are deeply respected.

Guided Tour of the Floristella Mining Park

Discover one of the most expressive industrial archaeology sites in southern Italy. Once the beating heart of sulfur extraction in Italy, today this mining park transforms into an open door to a forgotten world, where the silence of old tunnels blends with the song of lush nature reclaiming its space. Like a vast open-air museum, the circular kilns for melting and separating sulfur, the tunnels, and vertical shafts are still visible and dramatically evocative. Here, every stone and path speaks of the lives of those who left their mark on these mines, amidst aspirations and sacrifices, telling a story of suffering, but also of hope and change.

Arancini Tating with Rosario Umbriaco

Rosario comes from a long tradition of restaurateurs renowned throughout Enna. Like his ancestors, he passes down the tradition of Sicilian rotisserie, becoming an ambassador and Italian excellence in the field. An alchemist, he transforms simple ingredients into true culinary works of art. A breading of ancient Sicilian grains encloses gastronomic treasures: saffron, piacentinu of Enna, Trapani salt, Ispica carrots, and donkey mortadella. Despite his success, he maintains the small shop where it all began, preserving a homely atmosphere that makes you feel part of Enna’s everyday tradition, simple and powerful. You will be welcomed with a glass of organic Sicilian sparkling wine, then move to the kitchen where you’ll find out how these unique arancini are made, listen directly from the Master and eventually taste the amazing arancini and his cannoli.

The workshop on ancient wood gilding

In the afternoon, master restorer Angelo Scalzo welcomes you to his studio, the result of professional experience developed through practice in various workshops. Discover the secrets of wood restoration and ancient techniques dating back to the time of the Egyptians, and with his support, learn how to use them. This experience allows you to understand the importance of preserving and enhancing works of art and ancient objects.

Guided Tour of the City of Enna

Known as the “Navel of Sicily,” Enna holds the title of the highest provincial capital in Italy. This city, a true panoramic viewpoint, offers breathtaking views of the entire Sicilian landscape, encompassing the entire island with a single gaze. A melting pot of history, culture, architecture, and craftsmanship, its streets and squares tell stories ranging from the Greek and Roman eras to medieval and Baroque splendours.

Visit the Rocca di Cerere, the site of the ancient sanctuary dedicated to Demeter and later Ceres. Here, the archaic cult of Kore, daughter of Ceres, who was abducted by Hades at the nearby Lake Pergusa and transported to the Underworld through a legendary opening in the Enna area, was practised. Having become Persephone, the queen of the underworld, she embodied the eternal cycle of death and rebirth. It was believed that Kore alternated her stay between the Earth and the Underworld every six months, bringing spring with her upon her return.

Admire the Cathedral of Enna, dedicated to Maria Santissima della Visitazione, a national monument and UNESCO heritage site, welcoming you with its imposing architecture and atmosphere.

Admire from the viewpoint of the historic center of Enna the neighboring town of Calascibetta and the mountains surrounding the territory of the Rocca di Cerere UNESCO Global Geopark. The golden autumn colors you find in this area of Sicily will leave you breathless.
